WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Sheriff’s deputies raided a Mingo County business and arrested two people, following a months-long investigating into cable theft. The Mingo County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police served a search warrant at Big Frank’s Salvage Yard in Williamson. The raid was the result of an investigation into telecommunications cable theft that produced multiple reports that the business was purchasing stolen cable for cash. The investigation also used an undercover operative to sell cable at the business on numerous occasions without any problem. ASHLAND, Ky. — A former inmate at the Martin County federal prison who was indicted last month for assaulting guards at the facility has now been charged with murder. Daviian Dwane Roberts, 35, formerly of Midland, Texas, is now charged with murder for allegedly killing fellow inmate Michael Smith in October of 2024. Last month, he was charged with three counts of assaulting USP Big Sandy correctional officers after being accused of attack three guards with a weapon in March of 2025. PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man arrested last year following accusations of sexual assaults targeting female college students in the city parking garage was arrested again Thursday, this time charged with possessing child porn. Terry Weston Rogers, 29, of Pikeville, was arrested just after 5 p.m. by Pikeville Police. The arrest warrant accuses Rogers of having more than 1-thousand photos depicting sexual performances by a minor on his phone. Rogers is currently being held on a $250,000 bond in the Pike County Detention Center.
