PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Alliance Resource Partners has announced the permanent closure of the MC Mining Complex in Pike County, affecting all of the facility’s 280 workers. Excel Mining issued Workforce Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notices to employees of the facility on Friday. SIDNEY, Ky. — A Pike County man has been arrested after police sought help from the public in solving the theft of an air compressor. Early Saturday morning, a Sidney resident reported the theft of the $3,000 air compressor the night before by a man who had been on his property two days in a row, taking the compressor the second day and causing property damage in the process.
