COAL RUN VILLAGE, Ky. — A Pike County man was arrested on a felony charge, after he allegedly made false reports to police repeatedly. A Coal Run Police officer responded to the Daniel Boone Motor Inn around 5:30 Monday evening, after Ryan Jay Cornwell, 45, of Pikeville, reported someone trying to break into his room. The officer found no evidence of a break-in and left, but Cornwell called back an hour later to report someone trying to break into his room again. PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Knott County man will spend more than a decade in prison, after pleading guilty to a federal drug charge. Danny Slone, 53, of Pippa Passes, pleaded guilty in August to distributing more than 50 grams of meth. According to his plea agreement, Slone sold meth to an undercover informant on four occasions, from July to September of 2024. In Lexington federal court on Monday, a judge sentenced him to serve 150 months in prison. Slone is currently being held in the Pike County Detention Center, awaiting transfer to the federal prison system.
