Paintsville Police pulled over the car driven by Bobby Daniels, 57, of Pikeville, and occupied by David Lee Ward, 56, of Nippa, after spotting their car weave across the center line of Route 321 several times. Daniels explained that he was looking at a Harry Potter sword while driving, which caused him to swerve. PSC to reconsider parts of Kentucky Power rate case

electric meterFRANKFORT, Ky. –The Kentucky Public Service Commission has granted, in part, a request by Kentucky Power to reconsider portions of a recent rate decision. In an order issued April 9th, the commission agreed to reopen the case to gather more information on several key issues, including vegetation management costs, employee compensation, transmission expenses and rate case costs. Regulators say the additional review does not mean they agree with the utility’s arguments, but will allow further investigation before making final decisions. ARH sues Pike County for $3.2 million in overdue jail bills

Pike County Detention CenterPIKEVILLE, Ky. — Appalachian Regional Healthcare has filed a lawsuit against Pike County, claiming the county owes more than $3.2 million for medical care provided to inmates at the Pike County Detention Center. The complaint, filed in Pike Circuit Court, names the county and Jailer Brian Morris as defendants. According to the lawsuit, ARH provided medical, dental and psychological care to indigent inmates, which state law requires the county to pay for.
