UPike, ARH and Delta Dental of Kentucky launch scholarship for future dentists

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville, Appalachian Regional Healthcare and Delta Dental of Kentucky have partnered to create a new scholarship program that will expand educational opportunities for future dentists while strengthening Kentucky’s oral health workforce. The Delta Dental of Kentucky ARH Family Scholarship provides financial assistance to eligible dependents of ARH employees who are admitted to the UPike Tanner College of Dental Medicine. Funds are applied toward tuition and other approved educational expenses, with scholarship recipients eligible to reapply annually while they remain qualified for the program. Martin County opens Himler Heritage Exhibit in Warfield

Judge grants leniency to former miner convicted of federal drug charge

Adam Lee Little Jr.LONDON, Ky. — A former miner who turned to selling drugs when the coal industry’s collapse left him financially “shattered” has been sentenced to four years in prison. Adam Little Jr., 51, of Elkhorn City, pleaded guilty in March to a single count of possessing more than 500 grams of meth with the intent to distribute. Court records show that police raided Little’s home in April of 2021, where they seized more than 3,300 grams of meth and nearly $23,000 in cash.
